How to Drop Expectations

Therapy thoughts: expectations are pre-meditated resentments.

You’re responsible for meeting your needs, and that means asking for what you need from others.

This can be uncomfortable work and requires a few things: fostering belief that your needs matter. Practicing voicing your needs. Practicing boundary setting and assertiveness.

️ Start by making a list of your needs and see which ones are being met and which ones aren’t and make a plan to meet them.
